Two Pack Members Kick Off Weekend for Women's Tennis Team
Chapel Hill, N.C. -- Senior Amanda Rebol and freshman Dylan Cannon will make the short trip to Chapel Hill, N.C. to start off competition at the ITA Carolina Regional Thursday.
Rebol will take on Winthrop newcomer Tayla Van Eck in the qualifying singles Round of 32 as she looks to climb up the Wolfpack women's tennis history books. She is currently fifth in career singles wins. A win over Eck will tie Rebol for fourth place in the career singles wins column.
Cannon will open up the ITA Carolina Regional in the B Draw of singles competition. She will face freshman Eva Borders (Furman). The freshman recorded a solid 2-1 singles record in her first collegiate outing at the USTA Bahamas Invitational.

OUTLOOK FROM COACH SIMON EARNSHAW
"This is our second event this fall with the whole team competing and it will be a good chance to gauge our level against teams we will be facing next spring. For the majority of our girls, we've put in a long practice block since the trip to the Bahamas and I think it's clear we aren't just ready to play, but are at a point where we need some outside competition. This is always a great event and I can't emphasize the strength of this region. Our expectation is that we will need to be at our best and then some more. That's really our mindset for every event, particularly this one, and I feel really confident in our preparation for what is at least three straight weeks of competition for everyone. The results thus far this fall have shown the value of all the work and commitment the players have put in since the end of last season and I'm excited to see how we match-up this weekend. We're approaching a point where we can be a significant factor nationally but can't get away from understanding that nothing is going to come easily for us, no one is going to give us anything for free and that we need to keep earning our position one match at a time. Go Pack!!"
