Wolfpack Adds Seven ACC Qualifying Marks To Conclude VMI Keydet Invitational

LEXINGTON, Va. – The NC State track and field team saw yet another successful outing on the final day of competition at the VMI Keydet Invitational Saturday. Seven athletes posted performances that qualified them for competition at the ACC Indoor Championships, and ten members of the squad established new PRs.Â
As a team, the Wolfpack men finished first in its field with 112.5 points, while the women finished second overall with 99 points.Â

THROWS:
Tyson Fortenberry earned another bronze medal on the weekend, this time in the shot put. Though Fortenberry had previously posted marks that qualified him for the ACC Indoor Championships, he set a new PR in the event on his fourth attempt with a throw of 54' 8.25" (16.67m).

Lauren Evans followed suit and finished the shot put in second place, throwing a mark of 50' 4.50" (15.35m) on her third attempt. She also improved her mark in an event that she had already qualified to compete in at ACC Indoors. Â

JUMPS:
Von Douglas made a statement in the long jump. The NC State freshman's 24' 3.75" (7.41) mark established a new PR by over a foot and sets him in place to compete at the ACC Indoor Championships.

Lauren White added another podium finish for the Wolfpack with a bronze-medal performance in the long jump. She notched a mark of 18' 10.50" (5.75m) for a new PR.

In the high jump, Christopher Garrick and JaTory "JT" Reid, who have both already qualified for the ACC Indoor Championships, finished third and fourth with marks of 6' 8.75" (2.05m). The jump was a new PR for Reid. Â

ON THE TRACK:
Dominique Clairmonte, Elly Henes, and Ryen Frazier got things started for the Wolfpack on the track Saturday, finishing third, fourth, and sixth, respectively. Clairmonte (4:49.12) and Henes (4:50.20) both posted marks that qualified them for the ACC Indoor Championships.

Gabriele Cunningham picked up a silver medal in the 60m hurdles. Her 8.35 time was just .03 short of the winning mark.

In the 60m dash, the Wolfpack men took second and third as Cravont Charleston ran a 6.76 and Dylan Peebles clocked a new PR of 6.82.

Peebles, Charleston, and Shannon Patterson continued their success in the 200m dash. All three NC State athletes set new PRs in the event and earned ACC Indoor Championships qualifying marks. Peebles placed first with a 21.12 time, which moved him into third on the NC State Top-10 List. Patterson (21.29) and Charleston (21.47) also moved into the Top-10 List with their third and fourth place finishes.

On the women's side of the 200m dash, Cunningham recorded a second-place finish with an ACC Indoor Championships qualifying time of 24.20.

Patterson, Peebles, Krehnbrink, and Abdul Rahmaan Kelly capped off the weekend with a time of 3:15.64 in the men's 4x400m relay. The time moved the group into the NC State Top-10 List.
