Â
LAST MATCH
NC State dropped a difficult 3-0 decision at No. 2 Notre Dame Friday evening at Alumni Stadium.
Â
The Wolfpack started the match strong and throughout the course of the evening would counter Notre Dame's 12 shots with 12 of its own, but a 14-minute stretch at the end of the first half proved decisive as all three Notre Dame goals came during this portion of the match.
Â
A moment of controversy played an important role in the early stages of the match, as it appeared that freshman David Loera had scored the first goal of his Wolfpack career in the seventh minute to put the Wolfpack ahead 1-0. Following a corner, Loera received a well-placed pass from Simon Blotko and chipped a shot over the goalkeeper and inside the far post. Shortly after the goal was scored, it was called back due to an offside ruling.
Â
A WEEK OF AWARDS
Freshman forward Manny Perez was named NCAA Player of the Week and to the Top Drawer Soccer National Team of the Week after scoring the match-winning goal in a 1-0 win over No. 3 Clemson.
