CARY, N.C. – The NC State women's tennis team impressed on day two of the Duke Bonk Invite as Anna Rogers & Claudia Wiktorin secured their third doubles win in as many matches, while Adriana Reami overcame Georgia Tech's Victoria Flores, who was ranked No. 7 & on the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Freshman/Newcomer preseason poll at the Cary Tennis Park in Cary, North Carolina.
Â
Doubles
Rogers & Wiktorin, ranked No. 26 on the ITA Doubles earned a hard-fought 8-7 (2) win over Meible Chi and Kelly Chen of Duke, while Bianca Moldovan and Reami fell to Kenya Jones and Nami Otsuka of Georgia Tech 8-4.
Â
Singles
By defeating Flores 3-6, 6-4, 6-3 Reami remained unbeaten in singles, advancing to the final. Rogers bounced back from her loss yesterday as she made quick work of Furman's Danni Vines 6-2, 6,0, while Wiktorin prevailed 6-1, 6-2 over Jones of Georgia Tech.
Â
Thoughts from Head Coach Simon Earnshaw:
"Another solid day today for the girls. I thought we would have to fight hard to make that happen and we were able to pull through a couple of close matches. In doubles Anna & Claudia made a slow start but managed to hang in there just long enough to find their game and win in a breaker. I can see a lot of potential in them as a team and going 3-0 in their first event together is a nice boost. Moving on into singles Adriana really displayed the amount of progress she has made in 2017, showing great composure to beat one of the top incoming freshmen in the nation in a long three-set match to move into the final of her singles flight. I expect us to get better each day especially physically and we are excited to do what we can tomorrow to have a strong finish to this event."

Up next
With all matches commencing at 9:00 a.m., Reami takes on Erin Larner of Northwestern, who is the No. 40-ranked singles player in the ITA preseason poll, in the final of her singles flight. Rogers and Wiktorin compete in consolation finals against Rheeya Doshi, also of Northwestern, and Mia Rabinowitz of Illinois, while Moldovan plays off for third-place in her flight, taking on Illinois' Asuka Kawai.
