AUSTIN, Texas – On a windy and challenging day at the University of Texas Golf Club, the NC State men's golf team completed the second of three rounds Tuesday at the 2017 NCAA Austin Regional. NC State shot a 297 (+13) its second time through the course and sits tied for seventh in the tournament field of 14 teams.
Â
The course played measurably harder during the second round, with average scores increasing from Monday's 74.35 strokes per round to 74.96 on Tuesday. Three of NC State's golfers shot below the course average during the second day of action.
Â
No. 16 and host Texas leads the tournament with a two-round score of 565 (-3). No. 3 Oklahoma State (569, +1) and No. 22 Ole Miss (576, +8) occupy the second and third places. NC State will enter Wednesday's final round within striking range, as the Wolfpack (587, +19) sits just four strokes behind fifth-place squad Arizona State (583, +15). The top five teams will advance to the NCAA National Championships May 26-31 in Sugar Grove, Ill.
