WEEKEND STORYLINES
- NC State and Virginia Tech will meet for the first time since the 2014 season. The Wolfpack traveled to Blacksburg for the three-game series and won the first two games to clinch the series win.
- Wolfpack head coach Elliott Avent earned his 1,000^th career victory against North Carolina Central Tuesday evening to become one of 15 active coaches in the NCAA with 1,000 or more career wins.
- NC State pitchers have posted back-to-back shutouts for the first time since March 8-9, 2014. The Wolfpack's staff has not allowed a run since the seventh inning of game three in the Boston College series.

SCOUTING VIRGINIA TECH
The Virginia Tech Hokies enter the weekend with a 20-23 record on the year, including an 8-13 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play. Tech dropped an 8-6 decision against West Virginia at home in its last outing on Tuesday evening.

In their most recent conference series, the Hokies dropped the series against Georgia Tech. After splitting a doubleheader on Friday, Virginia Tech came up short on Saturday, 6-4.

The squad has an explosive offense, as Virginia Tech is second in the conference with 72 home runs as a team. The Hokies own a team batting average of .284 with 10.07 hits per game to go along with 6.95 runs per game.

Jack Owens leads the team at the plate with a .349 clip to go along with a team-high 67 hits, second most in the league.
