RALEIGH - The NC State softball team opened its ACC schedule on Friday afternoon at Dail Stadium, splitting a doubleheader with Syracuse. The Wolfpack won the first game, 3-0, and dropped an 11-5 decision in the nightcap.
The Pack moves to 7-16 and the Orange move to 13-7 on the season, and both teams are 1-1 in conference play.
Game One Rewind
-The Pack took an early 1-0 lead in the first inning after Tyler Ross led off the frame with a home run to center field. This marked her third of the season and 39th of her career.
-In the fourth inning Haylee Kobziak hit a two-run homer to center field to extend NC State's lead to 3-0, giving her three on the season. Molly Hutchison started the scoring play with a double to left field, as Natalie Jones came in to pinch run for the senior catcher.
-Syracuse threatened in the sixth and seventh innings, leaving two runners on base in both frames.

Game Two Rewind
-The Orange struck first as Sydney O'Hara hit her first of four home runs in the game with a two-run bomb to left center.
-The Pack answered in the bottom of the frame as Hutchison hit an RBI double to allow Ross to cross the plate from second base.
-In the second inning NC State took a 3-2 lead on Caraway's 2-RBI triple down the left field line, giving her four this season which ties the school record for most triples in a single season.
-O'Hara knotted the game in the third inning with a solo home run to center field.
-Syracuse added four more runs in the fifth on Alicia Hansen's RBI single and O'Hara's three-run homer to right field.
-The Orange extended its lead in the top of the seventh to 11-3 with four more runs. O'Hara belted a two-run home run to right field and Olivia Martinez followed with a 2-RBI single up the right side.
-NC State tried to rally in the bottom of the frame as Ross smacked a 2-RBI single up the middle to bring Alyssa Compton and Molly Martin home from second and third.
-Brittany Nimmo earned the start in the circle, and Ross led the team in batting with two hits in her three trips to the plate.
