Wolfpack Opens Spring Season at Puerto Rico Classic

RALEIGH – The NC State men's golf team kicks off the spring portion of the 2016-17 season this weekend against a challenging field at the Puerto Rico Classic. Beginning Sunday, Feb. 19, and concluding on Tuesday, Feb. 21, the tournament will feature 54 holes of golf at the Rio Mar Beach and Spa Resort River Course.

TOURNAMENT FORMAT
The competition will begin with a shotgun start on Sunday at 8 a.m. ET. Each day will feature one 18-hole round. Teams will be paired based on results after the first two rounds.

NC STATE STARTING LINEUP
1) Benjamin Shipp – Three tournaments into his freshman season, NC State's active career leader with 70.7 strokes per round.
2) Jacob McBride – Led NC State during the fall season with a 69.7 stroke average per 18 holes.
3) Stephen Franken – Eight top-20 finishes in his first 15 collegiate tournaments.
4) Davis Richards – Six top-20 finishes in 14 career tournaments.
5) Harrison Rhoades – Recently joined the Wolfpack after transferring from Georgetown (2016 BIG EAST champions).

CURRENT TEAM RECORD
Through four tournaments during the fall portion of the season, the Wolfpack has posted a 36-18-1 record entering the first tournament of the spring. Individual NC State golfers combined for nine top-20 finishes during the fall.
