Women’s Soccer Continues Road Swing At #4 Duke Thursday

RALEIGH – The NC State women's soccer team (8-3-1, 1-2-1 ACC) will continue its four-match road swing Thursday evening when it makes the short trip to Koskinen Stadium to face No. 4 Duke (11-1-0, 4-0-0 ACC). Kickoff is 7 p.m. and the contest will be broadcast on the ACC Network Extra.
LAST TIME OUT
NC State traveled to No. 21/8 Florida State last Friday and dropped a 1-0 result. The Seminoles scored in the 15th minute and despite several quality scoring attempts the Wolfpack was unable to recover from its early deficit.
SERIES HISTORY
Thursday will mark the 34th time the teams have met in program history, as the Blue Devils lead the all-time series 22-10-1. Last season the squads met at Dail Soccer Stadium on Oct. 9 and Duke earned a 3-1 victory.
A win Thursday would mark NC State's first over Duke since 2000 and an end to 14 straight for the Blue Devils in the series.
PACK IN THE RANKINGS
In the latest United Soccer Coaches Poll, NC State is receiving votes and is 34th overall. The Pack has been in the top 25 or receiving votes for the national poll the entire season.
A TOUGH STRETCH
Thursday's match at Duke marks the third-straight top 25 ACC opponent that NC State will face on the road. The Pack has also recently traveled to No. 18 Notre Dame and Florida State.
NC State will conclude its four-match road swing Sunday when it travels to Pittsburgh for a 12 p.m. matchup.
SCOUTING DUKE
Duke started its season with a loss to No. 6 UNC-Chapel Hill in a non-conference matchup, and has won its last 11 contests. The Blue Devils lead the conference with a perfect 4-0 ACC record. In its last time out the squad traveled to Louisville and earned a 3-2 win in double overtime.
Imani Dorsey paces the team with eight goals and 18 points, while Duke leads the conference with 29 goals and is ranked among the top two in the ACC in five other categories. EJ Proctor has spent a majority of time in goal for the Blue Devils, as she holds a 9-1 record along with a .703 save percentage and .62 goals against average.
