NC State Hosts Liberty Tuesday Evening

RALEIGH – Beginning a stretch which includes three home matches in its next four contests, the NC State men's soccer team returns to action Tuesday evening when Liberty comes to town. Kickoff between the Wolfpack and Flames is set for 7 p.m. from Dail Soccer Stadium with action to be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra.
SERIES HISTORY
-Tuesday's match marks the eighth all-time meeting between NC State and Liberty.
-The Wolfpack holds a 5-1-1 advantage in the series.
-NC State has won five straight meetings in the series.
-The teams last met on Sept. 23 of the 2015 season. NC State earned a 2-0 win in Lynchburg, Va., on goals from Caleb Duvernay and Tanner Roberts.
-The teams last met in Raleigh on Oct. 28 of the 2014 season. NC State won 4-1.
SCOUTING THE FLAMES
-Liberty enters Tuesday's match the owner of a 3-2-1 record.
-The Flames have outscored opponents 10-7 this season.
-Liberty is led offensively by four goals from Tresor Mbuyu.
-The Flames were selected to finish fifth in the Big South this season.
HOME STRETCH
Three of NC State's next four matches will be played at Dail Soccer Stadium in Raleigh. The Wolfpack will host Wright State (Sept. 27) and Duke (Sept. 30) in Raleigh after Tuesday's match against Liberty and a Saturday trip to nearby ranked Wake Forest (Sept. 24).
LOOK AT THE NUMBERS
Though the Wolfpack has struggled in its last four matches, statistical numbers paint a brighter story. Throughout the season, NC State has outshot its opponents 69-59 and only trails by two (20-22) in total corner kicks won. The biggest difference of the season has been conversion of scoring chances: while both NC State and its opponents have recorded 24 total shots on goal this season, the Wolfpack has scored five times (20.8 percent) while opponents have been successful on 13 occasions (54.1 percent).
LAST MATCH
NC State fell 3-0 at No. 23 Virginia Tech Friday evening. Despite outshooting its opponent for the third straight match, the Wolfpack was unable to find the scoring touch in a road loss to the Hokies.
ACCLIMATION PROCESS
Through the first six matches of the 2016 season, the Wolfpack has featured eight new players who have combined for 2,436 minutes. Defender Jake Dykes (527 minutes) and Maximilian Luftl (490 minutes) have seen the most action on the field among the new players.
