The Wolfpack faces Navy in an elimination game Sunday
RALEIGH, N.C. - No. 17 NC State fell 4-0 in Sunday's resumption against No. 15 Coastal Carolina at Doak Field at Dail Park on the third day of the Raleigh Regional.
The Wolfpack (36-21) slipped into a 1-0 deficit in the first. Coastal Carolina (46-15) added two runs in the eighth before the game was suspended due to lightning. Twelve hours later, Coastal tacked on one more to set the final 4-0.
Evan Mendoza, Preston Palmeiro, Joe Dunand, and Josh McLain each provided one hit. Palmeiro tripled in the first. Dunand contributed his 17th double of the year.Â
Wolfpack starter Cory Wilder (3-4) took the loss on four innings of work, allowing one earned on five hits and two walks with four punchouts. Cody Beckman followed with 2 1/3 shutout innings. Tommy DeJuneas worked the next 1 1/3. Sean Adler recorded two outs before the suspension. Karl Keglovits started the resumption, giving up one hit in 2/3.
