Throwers, Distance Runners Primed For Charlotte Invitational

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State track and field team will send a group of throwers and some of its distance squad to the Irwin Belk Track & Field Center in Charlotte, N.C., for the Charlotte Invitational.

NC State will compete against 10 other teams at the meet. The competition features East-coast teams that will all be vying for NCAA East Preliminary qualification.

Pack Entries:
The meet marks another chance for the throwers to improve on their marks. Joshua Davis PRed in the hammer last weekend and is climbing the national rankings. His current mark of 207'8" is ranked 36th in the nation. He will square off against Charlotte's Stevan Veselinovic, who is ranked 24th nationally in the event.

On the women's side, Nicole Chavis leads the group of throwers. Chavis is currently 36th in the nation with a mark of 170'0". Alyssa Dunn, Lauren Evans and Sharmani Hall will also be in action.

In the distance events, steeplechasers Olivia Enright and Rachel Bartolomeo will compete again, and Megan Moye will lead mid-distance efforts. Moye currently has a top-50 national mark in the 800m and a conference mark in the 1,500m.

Bethany Neeley and Bella Smith will continue their inaugural outdoor campaigns for the Pack. Both are coming off 1,500m races at the Raleigh Relays.

Alyssa Rudawsky and Esther Fisher will also be back in action at the meet.

On the men's side, Vibushan Sivakumaran returns for his first full event in his final year of competition. Sivakumaran missed the indoor season with an injury. He started his return to the track at the Raleigh Relays, where he paced the opening 800m of the 1,500m race.

Fellow distance runners Bakri Abushouk and Nick Link will return to the track after missing the final stretch of the indoor season. Abushouk is coming off a strong cross country season and promising start to indoor track.

Sebastian Hanson, Patrick Sheehan, John Hagood, and Bobby Mintz will also line up in mid-distance and distance events Friday night. The group has competed at least once this season in their respective events and most recently ran at the Raleigh Relays.

Hanson and Sheehan both hold ACC qualifying marks in the 5,000m.
