Softball to Host DoubleTree RDU Invite This Weekend

NC State welcomes Bryant, IUPUI and Ohio to Dail Stadium

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team will host the DoubleTree RDU Invite this weekend at Dail Stadium. Bryant, IUPUI and Ohio are the teams that will make the trip to Raleigh for the event.

NC State begins play in the invite against Ohio at 3 p.m. Friday and takes on Bryant later that evening at 5:30 p.m. Saturday the Pack will play IUPUI at 12:30 p.m.

The event will be a true round-robin tournament, as the No. 1 and No. 4 seeds will meet at 3 p.m. Saturday and the No. 2 and No. 3 seeds will play at 5:30 p.m. Sunday the winners from both games meet in the championship game at 12:30 p.m., while the losers will play in the third-place game at 10 a.m.

The Wolfpack enters the weekend with a 13-11 record on the season and a 2-1 mark in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play. Bryant is 0-16 on the year, while IUPUI is 7-13 overall and Ohio is 11-7.

Last Time Out
In its last outing of the season on Wednesday, NC State earned a 7-2 victory at UNC-Chapel Hill. The Wolfpack scored its seven runs on home runs in the contest following a pair of two-run homers and a three-run blast.

Power Trip
NC State has hit at least one homer in the past eight games. For the season, the Wolfpack has hit a home run in 20 of 24 games.

The Pack is 7-3 on the season when hitting more than one home run in the contest.

Topping the Charts
NC State's 34 home runs this year is the most in the ACC and the seventh best in the NCAA. The Wolfpack is averaging 1.42 home runs per game, which is the best in the conference and eighth in the nation.

Perfect 10's
NC State's Maggie Hawkins and Molly Hutchison have recorded at least one hit in the past 10 games, as both are on 10-game hitting streaks. Hanna Sommer is on a seven-game hitting streak, as the longest three streaks on the team.

Scouting Bryant
- The Bryant Bulldogs have struggled this season, as the squad is still looking for its first win of the year (0-16).
- Friday's game will be the first meeting between the teams in program history.
- Bryant owns a team batting average of .172, headlined by Taylor Burger with a team-best .289 clip to go along with 13 hits.
- In the circle, Colby Norris paces the pitching staff with a 4.72 ERA and an 0-7 record. The Bulldogs have a team ERA of 6.22.

Scouting IUPUI
- IUPUI is the owner of a 7-13 record to this point in the season after dropping both games of a doubleheader at Illinois on Tuesday.
- NC State and IUPUI have never met in softball.
- The Jaguars have a team batting average of .278, led by Roni Patterson with an average of .373 at the dish.
- As a team, IUPUI has an ERA of 4.65. Brooke Boetjer has seen the most action in the circle with a 5-5 record and a 3.13 ERA in 11 appearances.

Scouting Ohio
- Ohio has an 11-7 record heading into the weekend. The Bobcats defeated Drake in their last outing of the season, 4-0.
- NC State and Ohio have met twice in the history of the programs with the Wolfpack winning both contests. The Pack won 3-1 in the first meeting in 2005 and 7-0 in the second meeting in 2007.
- Mikayla Cooper leads the Bobcats at the plate with a team-best .462 batting average to go along with 24 hits. As a team, Ohio has a team batting average of .305.
- In the pitching circle, Ohio has a team ERA of 2.79. Savannah Jo Dorsey headlines the staff with a 2.74 ERA and a 6-5 record.
