Led by 18 points from senior Miah Spencer on 7-10 shooting from the field, the NC State women's basketball team improved to 7-0 at home and 8-2 on the season Sunday afternoon with a dominating 86-54 win over visiting UNCW on Kay Yow Court inside Reynolds Coliseum.

Jennifer Mathurin (17 points) and Chelsea Nelson (12) joined Spencer in double figures as the Wolfpack put together its secÂond straight game of shooting better than .500 from the field. NC State connected on 32 of 60 (.533) attempts on Sunday, a mark which included a season high success rate of 13-23 (.565) from distance.

The Wolfpack began the game on a 12-0 run during the first 4:22 of play and would never trail or allow the contest to be tied the rest of the way. UNCW pulled within six points (18-12) with 2:53 remaining in the first quarter, but NC State allowed its opponent to come no closer throughout the remainder of the contest.

WOLFPACK WELCOMES ARMANI HAWKINS
The NC State women's basketball team added depth to its future backcourt on Dec. 12 by announcing the addition of transfer student-athlete Armani Hawkins. Formerly a member of the Arizona State women's basketball team, Hawkins will join the Wolfpack and be eligible to play following the concluÂsion of the 2017 fall semester.

Listed at 5-foot-10, Hawkins was the No. 22 guard and No. 100 overall prospect in ESPN's class of 2015 recruiting rankings. The Mesa, Ariz., native played her freshman season (2015-16) at Arizona State for a Sun Devils team which posted a 26-7 record and advanced to the second round of the 2016 NCAA Tournament. Hawkins appeared in 10 games for the Sun Devils, averaging 1.5 points per contest and a shooting perÂcentage of .429 (6-14). To this point in her sophomore season, Hawkins has played in six games and averaged 3.2 points per outing. She led all scorers with 14 points on 6-8 shooting from the field in Arizona State's 76-40 season-opening win over Illinois State on Nov. 11.
