Chavis, DMR Team Earn All-American Honors at NCAAs

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. - Nicole Chavis and the distance medley relay (DMR) team of Megan Moye, Tiana Patillo, Kenyetta Iyevbele and Samantha George each finished within the top-eight of their events at the NCAA Indoor Championships as the NC State track and field program earned two more All-American honors.The women's team now has six pointsand sits in a five-way tie for 13th place after day one of the national competition.
Weight Throw:
Chavis opened the competition for NC State with a sixth-place finish of 69'5.50" in the weight throw. This is the second year in a row Chavis has finished as an All-American - further cementing her place as one the nation's best throwers.
Long Jump:
Jonathan Addison concluded his impressive indoor season after picking up a 14th place finish of 23'9.50" in the men's long jump. The Raleigh, N.C., native will head into outdoor season with an impressive list of accolades, including second-team All-American.
Alexis Perry wrapped up field events for the Wolfpack, finishing 15th in the women's long jump with a mark of 18'8.50", which was good for second-team All American. Perry will also head into outdoor season with high hopes after a strong indoor season.
DMR:
Moye, Patillo, Iyevbele and George broke the school record with a mark of 11:10.41 for sixth place in the DMR. This is the third time that a DMR team has broken the school record this indoor season. Impressive splits from Iyevbele in the 800m(2:08.62) and George in the 1600m (4:37.92) sections helped push the team into All-American status.
A variety of student-athletes have contributed to the success to the highly-competitive DMR team. Four of the top-10 times in school history have come from the 2014-15 indoor season.

NC State has wrapped up all of its events at nationals, but the meet will continue on Saturday. The Wolfpacklooks to carry its momentum into outdoor season, which is slated to begin Friday, March 20th at the Carolina Relays in Chapel Hill, N.C.
