CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - A #STATEment performance from NC State led to a 58-46 win on Tuesday night over UNC-Chapel Hill. With the win, the Pack strengthens its tournament resume and improves to 17-11 (8-7 ACC).
Behind The Numbers:
Anthony 'Cat' Barber scored a team-high 15 points and added four assists, while Trevor Lacey and Ralston Turner each scored 14. BeeJay Anya also had a big game with five points, six rebounds, six blocks, two assists and a steal.
The Pack's defensive effort held the Tar Heels' to 46 points, which is lowest total ever recorded by UNC at the Dean E. Smith Center.
After giving up the first points of the game, the Wolfpack would take an early 4-2 lead and maintain the lead for the rest of the game.
Turning Point:
The Pack jumped out to 34-18 lead to start the second half, but UNC would go on a 14-2 run to cut the lead to 36-32.
The Heels would come within one possession with 11:04 to go, but a quick burst of offense from Turner and Barber would send the lead back to seven.
The game would swing back and forward until the end, as UNC continued to cut down the lead. However, with 2:32 to go, an 8-0 run from the Pack to close out the game would lift NC State to its third win over a top-15 opponent.
Up Next:
The Pack travel to Boston College for a noon game on Saturday, Feb. 28. The game will be broadcast on Raycom Sports Network.
