No. 29 NC State Drops Match to Drake 4-3

MADISON, Wis. - The No. 29 NC State men's tennis team dropped its match against No. 41 Drake, 4-3, on Saturday, Feb. 14. The neutral-site match came down to the wire, but the Pack fell just short.
Match Highlights:
After losing the doubles point in the previous match to South Carolina, the Wolfpack's doubles lineups returned to its usual form. Robbie Mudge and Ian Dempster took down Drake's Ben Lott and Bayo Phillips, 7-5, while Austin Powell and Simon Norenius defeated the duo of Ravi Patel and Matt Frost, 6-3.
Beck Bond's record improved to 4-3 after a straight-set victory over Frost. Bond battled through a tough first set -- eventually winning the tiebreaker 10-8. In the second set, he quickly earned the match victory defeating Frost, 7-6 (10-8), 6-3.
At the bottom of the lineup, Norenius won his fifth consecutive match and seventh of the season in a straight-set victory. He defeated Phillips 6-2, 6-0.
Up Next:
NC State is back in action Sunday, Feb. 15 for a match up against Wisconsin. The Pack will look to bounce back and earn its seventh win of the season.
