ATHENS, Ga. – 30th-ranked NC State men's tennis improves to 17-7 overall and advances to the second round of the 2026 NCAA Championship with a 4-2 win over Middle Tennessee.
For the third season in a row, the Wolfpack will play in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Under head coach Kyle Spencer, the men's tennis program has qualified for the national tournament eight times and advanced past the first round six times.
Despite dropping the doubles point, the Pack was able to claim four singles courts to keep its season alive and move on.
The doubles matches brought forth a new lineup for NC State, with Jules Leroux and William Manning leading on court one, Cody Benton and Martin Borisiouk teaming up for the first time on court two, and Charlie Camus and Ainius Sabaliauskas holding down court three.
Leroux and Manning battled back from a 3-5 deficit on court one, but the Blue Raiders took over 7-5 to take the lead while they also battling back from the strong 4-1 lead by Camus and Sabaliauskas on court three. Benton and Borisiouk remained level with their opponents for the majority of their match before securing a 6-4 victory to even out the stakes. Middle Tennessee was able to force a tiebreaker on court three, which led to them taking a second win and the doubles point.
NC State split overall in their first sets, with Sabaliauskas on four, Camus on five, and Darius Pop on six winning, and the top three courts falling behind.
Camus and Pop both claimed two-set wins to give the Pack a 2-1 lead on the scoreboard. A hard-fought match on court three ended in a loss for Manning to even out the team tally at two a piece.
Leroux provided the much pivotal point on court two, and ultimately it was all cleaned up by Borisiouk on court one to clinch the win for the Wolfpack.
