Wolfpack Volleyball Travels to Clemson, Georgia Tech

NC State plays first road matches in nearly a month
RALEIGH, N.C. – After concluding a six-match home stand, the NC State women's volleyball team will hit the road for the first time in nearly a month when it travels to Clemson Friday and Georgia Tech Sunday.

Friday's tilt against the Tigers is slated for 7 p.m. inside Jervey Gym, while Sunday's contest versus the Yellow Jackets will begin at 3 p.m. inside O'Keefe Gym. The match against Georgia Tech will air live Sunday on RSN/ESPN3.

The Wolfpack enters the weekend with a 12-8 mark on the season and a 1-7 mark in ACC play. Clemson is 5-15 overall and 0-8 in conference action, while Georgia Tech has a 13-7 record and a 4-4 clip in league play.

Last Time Out
In its last outing of the season, NC State battled the 18th-ranked Florida State Seminoles but came up short, 3-1.

All About That ACE
NC State continues to lead the ACC and remain ranked among the NCAA in service aces. The Wolfpack has tallied 1.67 aces per set, which ranks 21st in the nation and leads the conference.

Senior Morgan Cormier is third in the league with 0.43 aces per set to occupy 32nd in the NCAA.

The Wolfpack has been great in the third set this season, as a result of adjustments made during the intermission after the second set.

Sophomore middle blocker Kaitlyn Kearney is second in the ACC and 23rd in the NCAA with 98 blocks on the season. She also ranks 23 in the nation and third in the league with 1.41 blocks per set.

NC State as a team has the fifth-most blocks in the conference with 201.5, which is good for 19th in the NCAA.

Clemson is in its first season under the direction of head coach Hugh Hernesman and the squad has struggled somewhat in 2015. The Tigers are 5-15 and have lost 11 consecutive matches, including an 0-8 mark in ACC play.

Last season, NC State and Clemson only met once with the Tigers claiming a 3-1 on their home court. The Wolfpack has won four of the last five meeting against Clemson.

Junior Leah Perri leads the team offensively with 3.48 kills per set, while freshman Kailey Harvell is also an offensive threat with 2.89 kps. At the setter position, sophomore Kate Frederico has dished out 563 assists or 8.66 assists per set. Graduate student Keelie Arneson is the team's libero and has collected 5.13 digs per set to lead the ACC.

As a team, Clemson owns an attacking percentage of .152 while opponents have compiled an average of .243.

The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets own a 13-7 overall record and a 4-4 mark in ACC action. Tech split a pair of matches last weekend, dropping a 3-2 decision against Pittsburgh and defeating Virginia Tech, 3-1.

NC State and Georgia Tech met twice last season, with each team winning on its home court. This year, the teams will only meet once in Atlanta. The Wolfpack has lost its most recent two trips to Georgia Tech, both by a 3-1 score.

A set of twins lead the Yellow Jackets offensively, as Teegan Van Gunst has swatted 3.96 kills per set and Annika Van Gunst has collected 2.48 kps. Rebecca Martin is the team's setter and has dished out 8.56 assists per set. Defensively, London Ackermann paces the group with 4.42 digs per set.
