Wolfpack Volleyball Earns Road Sweep at Clemson

NC State tallies first sweep in ACC play this season
CLEMSON, S.C. – The NC State volleyball team used a strong offensive showing to earn a 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-20) sweep against the Clemson Tigers on Friday night inside Jervey Gym.

The Wolfpack moves to 13-8 on the season and 2-7 in Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) play, while the Tigers fall to 5-16 and 0-9 in league action.

Match Notes
- NC State earned its first ACC sweep this season Friday night against the Clemson Tigers. It was the Wolfpack's seventh shut out win of the year.
- The Pack recorded an attacking percentage of .337 for the contest, which is the highest of the season in a conference match.
- NC State never trailed in the first or second set of the match.

Match Rewind
- Both teams opened the first strong, as the score was tightly contested until a 4-0 by NC State forced a Clemson timeout at 16-11. With the Wolfpack leading 22-19, the Tigers scored consecutive points and NC State countered with a timeout.
- Out of the timeout, sophomore outside hitter Julia Brown swatted a pair of kills and an attacking by Clemson gave NC State the 25-21 first-set win and 1-0 lead in the match.
- Senior Morgan Cormier put down a kill in the second set to cap a 4-0 run for the Pack, giving the squad a 14-9 advantage on Clemson.
- Six unanswered points helped the Wolfpack extend its lead to 22-13 and the Pack held off a late rally by the Tigers to win the frame, 25-22.
- In the third set, the score was tied 16 times and there were six lead changes. Neither team led by more than two points until NC State pulled away late in the set.
- Tied at 20, the Wolfpack earned a sideout kill from Brown and the strong serving from junior Maggie Speaks helped the Pack win the next four points to win the third set, 25-20 and the match, 3-0.

- Freshman Blayke Hranicka led the Wolfpack offensively with 13 kills and a .600 attacking percentage. Sophomore Perry Ramsey put down 11 kills and Brown chipped in with 10.
- Speaks handed out a match-high 37 assists to go along with six digs, four kills and two service aces.
- Defensively, junior libero Rachel Eppley paced the Pack with eight digs and Ramsey contributed seven.
