WALLACE, N.C. – On the strength of three golfers in the top-five, the NC State men’s golf team sits in a tie for second after round one on Friday of the ECU/UNCW River Landing Intercollegiate at River Landing Country Club.
The Wolfpack fired a team score of 2-under 286, and is tied with Maryland for second. Liberty owns a three-shot advantage heading to Saturday.
Junior All-American Mitchell Sutton is tied for third after firing a 2-under 70.
Sophomore All-American Albin Choi and senior Chad Day find themselves tied for fifth at 1-under 71.
Seniors Mark McMillen and Graham Baillargeon are tied for 32nd after each shot a 2-over 74.
Sophomore James Chapman and senior Hunter Howell are both playing as individuals, and shot respective rounds of 74 and 76. Chapman is tied with McMillen and Baillargeon, while Howell is tied for 49th.
Liberty’s Robert Karlsson and Maryland’s Jordan Sweet are tied atop the field at 4-over 68.
The invitational will finish on Saturday with the field completing the all-ready started second round, and then playing the third and final round immediately after.
