
Men's Golf in 10th at ACC Championship

NEW LONDON, N.C. – The NC State men’s golf team is in 10th after Friday’s first day of the ACC Championship at Old North State Club. The Wolfpack fired a team score of 3-over 291.
Sophomore All-American Albin Choi recorded State’s best round of the day with a 1-under 71 to tie for 18th. He began his day with an eagle and a birdie, and was -3 just two holes into the championship. However, he gave back that great start with consecutive bogeys and a double on the front nine, but rallied with a 2-under 34 score on the back nine.
Senior Chad Day and junior Mitchell Sutton are tied for 26th at even-par 72. Sutton also began well with three birdies in his first five holes, but also made an equal amount of bogeys to finish at even.
Day had a relatively quiet day with one birdie, one bogey and 16 pars.
Seniors Graham Baillargeon and Mark McMillen are tied for 47th and 52nd, respectively, at 4-over 76 and 7-over 79.
Three-time defending champion Georgia Tech fired a team total of 18-under 270, and owns a six-shot lead over Virginia at 12-under 276. Florida State is third at 9-under 279.
Three players sit atop the individual leader board. Georgia Tech teammates Bo Andrews and Daniel Berger, and Florida State’s Daniel Berger are all at 6-under 66.
Saturday’s second round will begin at 8:30 a.m., with NC State and Boston College.
