
State moves to 9th at ACC Championship

Second Round Results
NEW LONDON, N.C. – The NC State men’s golf team is in ninth after Saturday’s second day of the ACC Championship at Old North State Club. The Wolfpack fired a team score of 6-under 282 during the second round and stands at 3-under 573 for the tournament.
Senior Mark McMillen was the story of the day for the Pack, firing a collegiate-low round of 5-under 67 that also marks the best score at ACCs by NC State since Matt Hill’s 6-under 66 in 2010.
The Smithfield, N.C., native moved up 15 spots on the leader board and is tied for 37th at 2-over 146. McMillen had seven birdies on Saturday to highlight his round.
Senior Chad Day shot his best career round at the ACC Championship with a 2-under 70 and is tied for 19th at 2-under 142 for the championship. He notched four birdies, including the opening and closing holes, off which both are par-5s.
Junior All-American Mitchell Sutton had a very similar round as Day with four birdies, including Nos. 1 and 18, to shoot 1-under 71. He is tied for 23rd at 1-under 143 for the championship.
Sophomore All-American Albin Choi finished Saturday at 2-over 74, and is tied for 32nd at 1-over 145 through 36 holes.
Senior Graham Baillargeon, playing in his first ACC Championship, shot a second-straight 4-over 76 on Saturday and is tied for 50th heading to Sunday at 8-over 152.
Three-time defending champion Georgia Tech continued its strong hold on the field by shooting a 14-under 274 and now sits at 32-under 544. Virginia is second at 21-under 555 and Florida State is third at 17-under 559.
Georgia Tech’s Richy Werenski owns the 36-hole lead at 9-under 135. Lee Bedford (Wake Forest), Denny McCarthy (Virginia) and Blake Redmond (Virginia Tech) are tied for second one-shot back.
Sunday’s final round begins at 8:30 a.m. NC State will compete in the second group at 9:10 a.m., with Maryland and Virginia Tech.
