BOCA RATON, Fla. - Lee Hasper continued to swing a hot bat, going 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, as NC State (11-6) broke a five game losing streak with a 3-0 win over Rutgers. Shaina Ervin (4-4) pitched a complete game shutout, her fanning eight batters in the win. Reneé LaCroix went 2-for-3 and played a solid defensive game at shortstop in the third game of the FAU Classic in Boca Raton, Fla.

NC State would take a two-run lead in the top of the second four hits. Shaina Ervin hit a double deep into left field, and Beth Poore came in to run. Shanna Smith followed with her first career triple to left center field to score Poore. Lee Hasper followed with an RBI single, her second RBI of the tournament, to make it 2-0 in favor of the Wolfpack.

The Wolfpack put another run on the board in the seventh, as Hasper hit her first career home run to left field to lead off the inning. She has driven in three runs in the tournament and her three hits leads the team through three games.

Shaina Ervin struck out the side to end the second after a leadoff walk, and finished with eight strikeouts and two walks while allowing just five hits. Ervin worked out of a jam in the sixth inning, loading the bases on a single, a walk and a hit batter. She induced a ground ball from Stephanie Johanssen that Tess Corona fielded and calmly flipped to Smith at first to end the inning.
