
No. 24 Gymnastics Hosts Home Opener

Raleigh, N.C. - After four straight away meets, The No. 24 NC State gymnastics hosted its first home meet of the 2002 season. The Pack placed third in its annual Hearts Invitational with a team score of 194.475. No. 5 Nebraska took top honors recording a score of 196.875, followed by Auburn with a 195.800. William & Mary took fourth (191.550).
Senior Kelli Brown won her third bars title of the season, tying for first with a score of 9.875. Brown also finished in a tie for first on floor, score a season-best 9.9. Brown was also third on vault (9.825) and 20th on beam (9.3) for a fifth place finish in the all-around with a score of 38.900.
Junior Marlyn Madey tied Brown for first place on bars with a career-best 9.875 to capture her first event title of her career. Also on vault, senior Aimee Panton tied for sixth with a 9.825. Panton also had a top-10 finishes on vault, taking 10th with a score of 9.75, and floor where she was also 10th (9.825).
Senior Laura Jazab was the Pack's top finisher on beam, recording a third place finish with a score of 9.875.
NC State will once again be in home action next Sunday, February 24, against Towson at 1:00 p.m.
