Ryan Hill joined the NC State cross country and track & field coaching staff full-time in 2023, following a year as a volunteer coach.
Hill, an alumnus of the Wolfpack cross country and track & field programs, graduated in 2013 with a degree in sport management. He was named ACC Rookie of the Year in 2008. He capped his senior season by being honored as the NCAA Southeast Region Athlete of the Year, winning the NCAA Southeast Regional Championship.
During his time at NC State, Hill accumulated ten All-American honors. At the 2012 NCAA DI Outdoor T&F Championships, he placed third in the men's 1500-meter finals. In 2013 he was the NCAA runner-up in the indoor mile. Ryan has personal records of 1500m: 3:35.59, Mile: 3:54.89, 3000m: 7:30.93, 5000m: 13:05.69.
Ryan was a silver medalist at the 2016 IAAF World Indoor Championships after finishing second in the 3,000 meters. He represented the United States at both the 2013 World Championships in Moscow and the 2015 World Championships in China, where he ran the 5000 meters at both, finishing 7th and 5th, respectively.
