• Allowed just one hit and no runs in 3 1/3 innings over his final three appearances
• Retired the lone batter he faced March 17 at UNC Wilmington
• Pitched two scoreless innings of relief April 7 vs. Coppin State, allowing one hit and striking out two
• Worked a scoreless ninth inning April 13 vs. NC Central, loading the bases on three walks, but getting out of trouble with a strikeout and a double-play grounder

• Played for American Heritage High School for head coach Todd Fitz-Gerald
• Had a 9-1 record and a 2.36 ERA as a senior in 2009
• Registered 78 strikeouts and held opposing hitters to a .198 batting average
• Named second-team all-state 3-A by the Florida Sportswriters Association
• Helped lead American Heritage to a 31-4 mark before losing his first decision in the state championship game
• Transferred to American Heritage from Massilon High School in Massilon, Ohio, midway through the 2008-09 school year
• Was the starting quarterback for the Massilon High School football team as a senior in 2008
