Game Notes Virtual Parking Permit

RALEIGH, N.C. — The NC State volleyball program will host the Summit Hospitality Tournament at Reynolds Coliseum from Friday, Sept. 4 to Sunday, Sept. 6, welcoming George Washington, Wofford, and Charlotte.

The Wolfpack opens tournament play on Friday against George Washington at 6 p.m., followed by a Saturday matchup against Wofford at 6 p.m. NC State closes out the weekend on Sunday against Charlotte at 3 p.m.

Fans parking on campus on Friday prior to 5pm will need to utilize the virtual parking permit to park for free. Neutral site matches will be free admission and tickets for NC State matches are available for purchase online at https://gopack.evenue.net/list/VB.

The History with Each Opponent

George Washington: Friday's meeting will be the second meeting between the two programs. NC State won the inital meting in 2023 in straight sets.
Wofford: Saturday's meeting marks the third with the Terriers. The Pack won the first two meetings 3-1 (2004) and 3-0 (2021).
Charlotte: The series is split beween the two programs, 2-2. NC State won the last two meetings in straight sets (2011, 2023) but the Niners won the first two in sweep fashion (2002, 2006).Former member of the Pack Sara Markinkovic returns to Reynolds to face her former teammates.

Young Bucks Shine

The freshman class made an immediate impact during opening weekend, combining for 96 assists, 53 kills, 16 blocks, and three aces while leading all hitters and setters in kills and assists across the trio of matches.
Outside hitter Britini Silver paced the Pack in the season opener with 15 kills, becoming just the fourth rookie in the last five seasons to tally 12 or more kills in her collegiate debut. She recorded two double-doubles over the weekend.
Setter Eva Long launched her career with a standout 34-assist, 10-dig, three-kill performance against Stony Brook—the most assists by a Pack setter in a opener since Kristen McDaniel logged 44 in 2021. Long also notched a double-double in her debut. She earned a spot on the Black & Gold Classic All-Tournament team for her performance.
Middle blocker Norah Busch and opposite Makenna Kowren rounded out the rookie contributions, each securing the first kills of their collegiate careers.

645 Days Away from the Net

Fifth-year middle blocker Sophie Groom tore her ACL during the opening set against SMU on Nov. 22, 2024. She missed the entire 2025 season while rehabilitating her knee, but remained vital to the program. Stepping into a key off-season leadership role, Groom earned a spot on the Wolfpack's leadership council over the summer.
She finally returned to action 645 days after her initial injury, appearing against both Robert Morris and UCF. Groom made an immediate impact, tallying 14 kills and five total blocks while capping the weekend with a team-leading .423 hitting percentage.
