RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State Athletics, along with the Wolfpack Club, has announced that the new baseball clubhouse at Doak Field will be officially named the Elliott Avent Clubhouse, honoring the legendary head coach's enduring impact on Wolfpack Baseball and 30 years of continued leadership in Raleigh.
"We are deeply appreciative of the donors who gave generously to make this possible," said McMurray Family Director of Athletics Boo Corrigan. "It is only fitting that such an integral part of our baseball facility be named in honor of the man who has led the program for the last three decades. Elliott has meant so much to Wolfpack baseball and to NC State University, and we are proud to recognize him in this way."
The Wolfpack's all-time winningest coach, Avent, has developed the Wolfpack into one of the nation's best and most consistent programs since his hiring in 1996. He has taken the Wolfpack to the NCAA Tournament in 22 of the last 29 seasons and 17 of the last 20. Avent captured both ACC and National Coach of the Year honors in 2003 and was named USA Baseball's College Coach of the Year in 2021.
Chosen as an assistant on head coach Frank Cruz's staff, Avent served as a coach with USA Baseball at the 2004 World University Games in Taiwan. Not only did he get a chance to represent his country on the other side of the world, but he also returned home with a gold medal.
The naming of the Elliott Avent Clubhouse ensures that his legacy will remain a permanent part of Doak Field, inspiring future generations of Wolfpack baseball players to uphold the standard he helped create.
