#9 Men’s Tennis Defeats Michigan and UNCG by 4-1 Scores

RALEIGH – Ninth-ranked NC State men's tennis added two more non-conference victories to its belt in its first weekend of competition. A hard-fought match with Michigan during the day resulted in a 4-1 win, followed by another 4-1 win over UNC Greensboro in the evening.

NC State men's tennis added two victories to continue its opening clean record to 4-0 in its first weekend of competition.

The morning started with a tough battle against the Michigan Wolverines, which was clinched by freshman Charlie Camus on singles court four. The Pack confidently claimed the doubles point and then had back-and-forth fights on courts two, three, and four to eventually win 4-1. Both William Manning and Charlie Camus took their matches to three sets and had to battle through tiebreakers.

NC State now moves to 6-3 in the all-time series with Michigan after recording consecutive wins this season at home and last season on the road.

In the evening, the Pack then faced the UNC Greensboro Spartans, which also resulted in a 4-1 win. Jules Leroux got another chance at holding down the No. 1 singles court and claimed a win in straight sets.

The win marked the 19th overall and 16th consecutive victory over UNC Greensboro. The lone singles victory by the Spartans marks the first point the program has been able to claim over the Wolfpack since 2001.

Up Next
NC State remains home next weekend to host a highly-competitive ITA Kickoff on Friday and Saturday. The Wolfpack will open with No. 19 Duke on Friday at 1 p.m., while Tennessee and Texas A&M play at 5 p.m. Losers of Friday matches will play at 1 p.m. on Saturday, while winners will play at 5 p.m. The team that wins both matches will advance to the ITA National Team Indoors Tournament next month.
