#9 Men’s Tennis Drops to #18 Duke in ITA Kickoff Match

RALEIGH – Ninth-ranked NC State men's tennis faced its first loss of the season Friday afternoon in its ITA Kickoff match with 18th-ranked Duke.
In the opening match of ITA Kickoff, No. 9 NC State fell to No. 18 Duke by a 4-2 score to lose its chance at advancing to the ITA National Team Indoor tournament next month. The defeat marks the first time the Blue Devils have won in Raleigh since 2018.
The team was originally slated to play Tennessee tomorrow in the consolation match, but with predicted incoming inclement weather on the horizon, the match has been canceled.
After claiming the doubles point from a 11-9 tiebreaker clinch on court three, the lengthy match got away from the Pack as the Blue Devils went on to take three singles courts in a row to go up 3-1.
On court three, William Manning was able to battle through his three-set match that included a tiebreaker in the second set to provide the lone remaining point that the Wolfpack would claim.
