RALEIGH – Fifth-ranked NC State men's soccer is set to face North Carolina at home in its conference opener on Friday night at 7:30 p.m.

Series History
• Friday's meeting marks the 91st contest between the NC State Wolfpack and North Carolina Tarheels.
• The Wolfpack last beat the Tarheels 1-0 in 2018 in Raleigh when North Carolina was ranked first in the nation. The two have met four times since then, resulting in two draws and two losses for NC State.
• In the era of the USC poll (started in 1996), this marks just the second time that the two have met while NC State was ranked and North Carolina was unranked. The only other time was in 1997.

• The Wolfpack started the season ranked at No. 14 in the preseason United Soccer Coaches poll, where it finished last season. After just week one of the regular season, the squad landed at eighth in the country. The last time the program was ranked that high was in September of 2018.
• Through two weeks of competition, the Pack was boosted to the No. 5 spot, marking the program's highest-ever ranking in the United Soccer Coaches poll (which began in 1996).
