
Angelina Napoleon Finishes 9th in the World & Top American at World Athletics Championships

TOKYO - NC State's Angelina Napoleon proudly represented Team USA in the 3000m steeplechase at the World Athletics Championships this past week, finishing ninth overall and claiming the title of top American in the event.
Napoleon opened competition in the second heat on Sept. 14, where she clocked 9:18.03 to secure a fifth-place finish and advance to the final.
In the championship final on Sept. 17, the junior crossed the line in 9:17.44, placing in the top-10 and leading the way for Team USA.
The 20-year-old capped off a remarkable season that saw her drop her steeplechase personal best from 9:34 to 9:10, finish third in the event at the NCAA Championships, reach the World Athletics Championships final and finish as the top American in the field.
