How it Happened
- The Hokies wasted no time taking a lead, as they posted four in the opening frame. The Wolfpack struggled defensively as the infield tallied two errors in the top of the first.
- Sophomore Tori Ensley worked a full count before hitting a single up the middle to lead off the bottom half of the first. Older sister Taylor Ensley was thrown four straight balls to head to first and put two on and freshman Kendall Simmers was also walked.
- With two outs on the board, graduate Payden Bordeau worked a full count before being thrown ball four and headed to first to load the bases. The Pack left three stranded as the Hokies picked up the final out.
- Junior Teagan Thrunk singled through the left side with one out in the bottom of the second but was left stranded in the end.
- The top of the fourth saw the Hokies post three more runs after a homer from Trinity Martin.
- The bottom of the fifth saw freshman Lisey St. Jean entered to pinch hit and was hit by the second pitch thrown her way. She headed to first and junior Ellie Goins re-entered to run. With one out on the board, Taylor Ensley recorded a single up the middle but her and Goins were left stranded in the end.
- The Hokies added three more runs to the board in the top of the sixth to take a 10-0 lead over the Pack.
- NC State struggled to get anything going in the bottom of the sixth to keep the game going.
- Redshirt-sophomore Wynne Gore started in the circle and threw 3.2 innings. She finished with one strikeout.
- Junior right handed pitcher Rylee Wyman threw 1.2 innings and sophomore Carly Maxton threw 0.2. Maxton finished with one strikeout.
