Attempted Rally Not Enough as Pack Falls to Hokies, 3-0

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State softball team held No. 13/11 Virginia Tech scoreless and hitless for three consecutive innings before the Hokies managed to take a 3-0 lead that the Pack was unable to overcome in game two of the series.
The Pack moves to 4-10 in conference play this season and 21-18 overall.

The Wolfpack softball team will return to Dail Softball Stadium on Sunday, April 6 at 1pm for the final game of the series against the No. 13/11 Hokies.

How it Happened
- The first three innings were a pitchers battle as neither team could get a hit or score to take a lead.
- Bree Peck smashed a ball to center field in the fourth to get a hit on the board and add a two-run homer to her stat line.
- Sophomore outfielder Tori Ensley led off the bottom half of the fourth inning with a walk and became the first member of the Wolfpack to get on base in the game. She ended up stranded as the Hokies picked up three outs to stop her from scoring.
- The Hokies added the third and final run to the board in the top of the fifth after a fielding error by the Pack allowed runners to move up a base and one to score.
- Senior outfielder Taylor Ensley recorded the first hit of the day for the Wolfpack in the bottom of the sixth when she singled through the right side.
- Junior Hannah Church singled down the left line in the bottom of the seventh in hopes of starting a rally for the squad, but the Hokies got the next three Wolfpack batters out to end the game.
- Sophomore right-handed pitcher Carly Maxton started in the circle for NC State and pitched 3.1 innings. She tallied two strikeouts.
- Redshirt-sophomore pitcher Wynne Gore finished the game in the circle, throwing 3.2 innings and finished with three strikeouts.
The Wolfpack softball team will return to Dail Softball Stadium on Sunday, April 6 at 1pm for the final game of the series against the No. 13/11 Hokies.
