Women’s Golf Wraps Up ACC Championship

GREENSBORO, N.C. - The NC State women's golf team wrapped up ACC Women's Golf Championship stroke play on Thursday, finishing in 13th with a 43-over 907 (302-298-307). The Pack was led by freshman Marie Eline Madsen who tallied a tie for 11th with a 1-over 217.
Madsen picked up her ninth top 20 finish in as many tournaments as a freshman, logging a tie for 11th at her first ACC Championship with a 1-over 217 (72-71-74). In the first round, she began to find momentum at the turn with three straight birdies, finishing the round at even par after her fifth birdie of the day at 18. She eagled her first hole at 10 in the second round and finished that round at 1-under before carding a 2-over 74 in the final round.
Lauren Olivares Leon was the next finisher for the Pack with a 10-over 226 (76-71-79) to finish in a tie for 43rd. Her best round came in the second, in which she carded four birdies, including three in her first five holes to finish at under par in the round.
Vania Simont followed in a tie for 47th with an 11-over 227 (77-77-73). Simont's best round came on Thursday to help her move up seven spots in the final standings with a 1-over 73 behind four birdies.
Jaclyn Kenzel finished her final ACC Championship with a 21-over 237 (77-79-81) to place 64th and Lea Ludwig was 72nd with a 27-over 243 (83-79-81).
NC State had the ninth best par 5s average in the field at 4.85 and had the fifth most eagles with two.
