CHARLOTTE – The No. 9 NC State women's basketball team swept the ACC weekly awards, as Zoe Brooks was named Player of the Week and Tilda Trygger was tabbed Freshman of the Week, as announced by the league Monday. This marks Brooks' second and Trygger's first weekly awards in their careers.
Brooks was big in the Pack knocking off back-to-back ranked opponents, including against No. 1/1 Notre Dame on Sunday. The sophomore averaged 25.0 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.5 assists, 1.5 steals and 1.0 block per game across the Pack's two wins.
The sophomore started the week with tying a game-high 17 points off 7-of-15 shooting from the field with five rebounds, two assists and two steals at No. 20/20 Georgia Tech. Brooks followed that up with a double-double behind a career-high 33 points with 10 rebounds, three assists, two blocks and one steal against No. 1/1 Notre Dame in the Pack's double-overtime feat. Her 33 points, the first 30-piece of her career, marked the most scored by a member of the Pack against a No. 1 opponent in 25 years, as she did so shooting 9-of-20 (.450) from the field and a perfect 14-of-14 from the free throw line.
Her 14 free throws against the Irish is tied for the sixth most made in a single game in school history and the first time a Wolfpack player has shot 100 percent from the line in a game (with more than 10 attempts) since Elissa Cunane in 2020 (vs. Virginia, 1/5/20). Brooks also played 47.5 of the 50 minutes in that double overtime contest.
The weekly award is Brooks' first ACC Player of the Week award and second weekly recognition overall after being named ACC Freshman of the Week in December 2023.
Trygger continues to excel, as she averaged 13.5 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.0 block per game in the Pack's two ranked wins. The Sweden native was solid at No. 20/20 Georgia Tech with eight points, seven rebounds and two blocks in 33 minutes. She was a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line, stepping up big during the stretch to take home the road victory.
The 6-6 forward followed that up in a massive way against No. 1/1 Notre Dame by matching a career-high 19 points behind a nearly perfect 8-of-9 clip from the field and a perfect 2-of-2 from beyond the arc. She finished just shy of a double-double with nine rebounds and added two blocks, while playing a career-high 43 minutes.
Trygger is ranked No. 11 in the NC State freshman record books for most blocks in a season with 20, and has been averaging 9.3 points, 6.3 rebounds and 0.8 blocks per game in ACC play.
The Pack will host Wake Forest for Senior Day on Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. The game will be aired on ACC Network Extra.
