NC State Women's DMR Team Sets Program Record, Wolfpack Shines in Multiple Events Ahead of Postseason

RALEIGH, N.C. — The NC State women's distance medley relay team made program history this weekend, breaking the previous record and setting a new all-time best as the Wolfpack competed in its final regular-season meets before the postseason.
HIGHLIGHTS
Hannah Gapes, Jordyn Parker, Brooke Rauber, and Grace Hartman represented NC State as the women's DMR team broke the program's previous record of 10:52.16, setting a new all-time best of 10:48.51 to finish fifth at the Terrier DMR Challenge in Boston.
At the Virginia Tech Challenge, Sydney Freeman secured her second podium finish of the season, placing second in the weight throw with a mark of 18.58 meters (60 feet, 11.5 inches). Natalie Griffith finished fifth with a personal-best mark of 15.77 meters (51-9).
Jakerra Covington and Olivia Vaughan each recorded personal bests in the shot put, with Covington earning fifth place at 11.68 meters (38-4) and Vaughan placing seventh at 9.83 meters (32-3).
On the men's side, Tony Taylor II secured his first podium finish of the season in the weight throw, placing second with a mark of 17.07 meters (56-0). He later competed in the shot put, earning a personal-best 14.88 meters (48-10) to place fourth.
NC State had a strong showing in the long jump, with Elyssia Fisher earning her first podium finish as a member of the Wolfpack, placing second with a jump of 5.75 meters (18-10.5). Chazmin Johnson (5.56 meters, 18-3) finished fourth, while Mariama Hunt (5.44 meters, 17-10.25) placed fifth.
McKenna Moritz secured her first podium finish in the high jump, clearing 1.65 meters (5-5) to win the event. Teammate Jenna Barnes also reached the podium, placing third with a clearance of 1.55 meters (5-1).
Covington also achieved a season-best in the 60-meter hurdles, clocking 9.07 seconds.
At the USATF Indoor Championships, Pack Pro Cameron Murray achieved a personal best in the 60-meter hurdles, finishing second with a time of 7.41 seconds. His performance secured him a spot on Team USA for the second straight year at the 2025 World Athletics Indoor Championships in Nanjing, China.
Charles McBride finished sixth in the high jump with a clearance of 2.12 meters (6 feet, 11.5 inches), while Sam Bush achieved a personal best in the 1,500 meters with a time of 4:11.37.

NC State will begin its postseason at the ACC Indoor Track and Field Championships, March 1-3, at the Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center in Louisville, Ky.
