Wolfpack Set to Host The Marucci Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. -- The NC State softball team is set to host the second annual Marucci Classic at Dail Softball Stadium starting on Friday, Feb. 21. The Pack will host Central Michigan, Illinois, and Northern Colorado, with each team scheduled to play at least four games.Â
The Wolfpack will play its first game on Friday at 3:30pm as it hosts the Fighting Illini. All games featuring NC State will be streamed on ACCNX and admission to all games is free. The full schedule is linked above.Â

The Basics of the Weekend
- The Pack will host the Illini for the third and fourth time in program history on Friday and Sunday. NC State won the initial meeting but dropped the second in 2020. The two split the series, 1-1.
- The Bears will visit Raleigh for the first time on Friday. The two programs tied back in 2013 due to a drop-dead time.
- NC State will host Central Michigan on Saturday and then meeting will mark the first ever between the two programs.

- Sophomore right handed pitcher Carly Maxton topped her own career high in strikeouts that she set just seven days prior in the Pack's shutout win over Dartmouth on Feb. 14.
- She tallied 10 strikeouts in her second complete game and second shutout of the season. She caught six batters swinging and got four looking in the outing.
- Her 10 K's make her just the second person on the staff to record a game with double-digit strikeouts in their career (Rylee Wyman vs. UConn on 2/17/24).
- The Townsend, DE native is the only pitcher on the roster with a 0.00 ERA through two weeks as well.
- The 2025 roster features the Ensley Sisters, Tori and Taylor.
- The duo is one of 15 sets playing in the NCAA this season.
- They are only one of three sets that have started all games played this season (Nevada and ULM are the others).
- Out of all P4 schools, Mississippi State is the only other one to have sisters on the roster but NC State is the only one to have both sisters playing in every game.
- Junior catcher Hannah Church joined the Pack in summer 2024 after spending two seasons at Ohio State.
- Head coach Lindsay Leftwich has mentioned she is someone to watch as she was launching rockets past the building in center field at Dail Softball Stadium all fall.
- She appeared in all five games of opening weekend and made four starts for the Pack. She went 4-for-12 from the plate and had one RBI.
- At the Joan Joyce Classic, she led the team with a weekend batting average of .357, 5 hits including 2 homers, and 4 RBI's.
