ELON, N.C. – The NC State softball team picked up its sixth win of the season as it defeated Elon in shutout fashion Tuesday evening in its first true road win of the season.

The Wolfpack will return to Raleigh to host the Marucci Classic. NC State is scheduled to play its first game at 3:30pm against Illinois and it will be streamed on ACCNX.
How it Happened
- Sophomore Tori Ensley opened the game with a lead off double and would later steal third with older sister Taylor Ensley in the box.
- With one out on the board, junior utility player Madison Inscoe hit an infield single to drive Tori Ensley home and get the Pack on the board first.
- Senior Hannah Goodwin added a hit to the board in the top of the second with two outs when she singled to right field, but her chances of adding to the lead were cut short by the Phoenix.
- Like the first inning, Tori Ensley led off the top of the third with a single to left center. With an out on the board, Inscoe saw a four pitch walk, advancing Ensley to second. Junior MaKayla Marbury reached on a fielder's choice but the inning was cut short as Ensley was tagged out at third on the play.
- The fourth inning was big for the Pack as they put up a three-piece in the third after a two-RBI double from junior Ellie Goins and a bunt single from Taylor Ensley drove in a run.
- Through seven innings of work, Inscoe tallied four strikeouts and just one walk from the circle. The win marked her second of the season.
- Tori Ensley led the Pack offensively with two hits, including a double.
- The win marks the sixth of the season, 603rd in program history, and 36th under head coach Lindsay Leftwich.
