
#2 Wolfpack Faces First Ranked Matchup of the Season with #16 Virginia

RALEIGH – Second-ranked NC State men's soccer is set to return home and host No. 16 Virginia Sunday at 6 p.m. in the team's first ranked match-up of the season.

• Be the 251st win in Hubbard's head coaching career (250- 57-44)

Series History
• Sunday's meeting marks the 77th contest between the NC State Wolfpack and the Virginia Cavaliers.
• The Wolfpack met with the Cavaliers back in an unofficial spring game and prior to that, last fall in the ACC Tournament. NC State hosted Virginia in the first round of ACCs in November which resulted in a 2-1 loss after the Hoos scored two goals in less than a minute.
Quick Notes
• The Wolfpack started the season ranked at No. 14 in the preseason United Soccer Coaches poll, where it finished last season. After just week one of the regular season, the squad landed at eighth in the country, the last time the program was ranked that high was in September of 2018.
• The team has bested its highest-ever ranking in the United Soccer Coaches poll three times this season. The previous best for the program was No. 8 set in 2018, this season the team has landed at No. 8, No. 5, No. 2, and finally No. 1.
• NC State was picked to finish eighth in a competitive Atlantic Coast Conference that features four of the nation's preseason top 10 teams according to the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
• A win over Queens to start the season moved the team's season-opening record under Marc Hubbard to 2-0.
• A crowd of 5,083 fans at the game vs. North Carolina on Sept. 5 set a new Dail Soccer Stadium attendance record.
• NC State was the last school in the entire NCAA to concede a goal.

• NC State was one of two ACC schools (other being Duke) to feature at least four players on the TopDrawerSoccer Preseason Top-100 Players to Watch List.
