
Hurricanes Proved to Powerful for Wolfpack

RALEIGH, N.C. - The 22nd-ranked Miami Hurricanes proved to be too powerful for NC State, who fell in straight sets Friday evening in Reynolds Coliseum in the conference home opener.Â
The loss moves the Wolfpack to 7-6 on the season and 0-3 in conference action.Â

- Despite keeping things close to start, the Wolfpack struggled to slow the Hurricanes offense in set one. Miami used an 11-3 scoring run to force head coach Megan Wargo-Kearney to use both timeouts early.
- The Pack trailed by as many as nine (20-11) before ending the Canes scoring run.Â
- Miami took the first set, 25-16 and held the Wolfpack to -0.103Â hitting percentage.Â
- NC State kept it close in set two as the two teams exchanged points to start. A 7-1 scoring run allowed the Hurricanes to be the first to 15 points and send the set into a media timeout.Â
- The Pack continued to struggle offensively but a late rally allowed them to come within two of the Canes (20-22). Three unanswered Miami points gave the Canes set two, 25-20.Â
- The third set was a battle as NC State didn't let the Canes lead by more than four points throughout. A kill by freshman Rebecca Ring tied the frame 21-all but the Canes would take the set, 25-22, in the end.
- Ring led the Wolfpack with 12 kills and two service aces. Fellow freshman Hailey McFadden led the defensive efforts with four blocks to mark a career high.Â
- Senior middle blocker Lily Cropper finished with a .875 hitting percetage after recording seven kills on eight attempts with zero errors.Â
