PITTSBURGH, Pa. – Mana Nakata provided the game-winning score to propel NC State women's soccer (5-6-4, 4-1-2 ACC) to its sixth-straight unbeaten ACC contest and third-straight league win in a 1-0 victory at Pittsburgh (5-8-2, 1-6-0 ACC) on Friday night at Ambrose Urbanic Field. With the win, NC State secured its most league victories since 2021 and most overall wins since 2022.
The first half was quiet offensively with no goals between the teams as the Panthers outshot the Pack, 4-2. Olivia Pratapas made both of her first half saves early in the frame to help NC State go into the break tied with Pitt at zero.
The second half was a different story for the Wolfpack, who came out aggressive after halftime. Nakata provided the breakthrough in the 61st minute, collecting a rebound off a blocked shot by Jade Bordeleau and slotting it into the goal to give NC State the lead. The Pack matched Pitt in second-half shots, 5-5, and controlled the flow of play to close out the victory.
In the whole match, NC State held a 60-40 edge in possession and earned four corner kicks while not allowing any from the Panthers.
On defense, the Wolfpack recorded its second-consecutive shutout and fifth clean sheet of the season. Pratapas finished the night with four saves, while the back line of Yuna Aoki, Alex Mohr, Brooklyn Holt, and Mackenzie Smith cleared out Panther threats all night to preserve the win.
