RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State women's soccer (5-6-4, 4-1-2 ACC) returns to Dail Soccer Stadium on Tuesday, Oct. 23, to host No. 20 Louisville (11-3-2, 4-3-2 ACC) for its annual Senior Night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. on ACCNX.
Due to construction on Morrill Dr, fans should expect major delays and allow more time to arrive on campus. For egress, patrons will be directed to use Cates Ave to Pullen Road or Dan Allen Dr to access Western Blvd.
Celebrating the Seniors
Tuesday night's match will serve as the program's Senior Night, honoring Tierra Garniss, Brooklyn Holt, Alex Mohr, and Olivia Pratapas for their dedication to NC State women's soccer. Whether they've been part of the Pack for one season or all four years, each has made a lasting impact through their commitment, leadership, and passion for the program.
Collectively, this year's senior class has totaled 12 seasons in Raleigh and combined for 155 appearances. Pratapas and Holt have served as team co-captains, Mohr has spent her entire collegiate career with the Wolfpack, and Garniss joined the Pack this fall to complete her final collegiate season after graduating from Rhode Island.
Last Time Out
Mana Nakata delivered the game-winning goal to lift NC State women's soccer to its sixth straight unbeaten ACC match and third consecutive league victory with a 1-0 win at Pittsburgh on Friday, Oct. 17. The result marked the Pack's most conference wins since 2021 and most overall victories since 2022.
The first half was quiet offensively as the Panthers outshot the Pack, 4-2, but senior goalkeeper Pratapas made a pair of early saves to keep the match scoreless at halftime. NC State came out more aggressive after the break, and Nakata provided the breakthrough in the 61st minute by collecting a rebound off a blocked shot from Jade Bordeleau and finishing into the net to give the Pack the lead. The Wolfpack matched Pitt in second-half shots, 5-5, and controlled the pace to close out the victory.
A Win Would …
- Mark Gary Higgins' sixth victory as head coach at NC State.
- Be the 408th win in program history.
- Be Higgins' 116th win in his coaching career.
- Mark the program's 6th all-time win over Louisville.
- Mark the fifth ACC win of the season for NC State.
Series History
Friday marks the 12th all-time meeting between NC State and Louisville in a series that dates back to 1999. The two programs are even with five wins apiece and one draw, which came during the 2016 season. The Cardinals enter the match up on a two-game win streak in the series after recording 1-0 victories in both 2022 and 2024. Prior to that stretch, NC State won three straight meetings, including a 2-1 road victory in 2021, the Pack's most recent win over Louisville.
Scouting the Cardinals
Louisville enters Thursday's match with an 11-3-2 overall record, including a near-perfect 9-0-1 mark at home. The Cardinals are 4-2-2 in ACC play and are one of four teams tied with 14 points in the conference standings, a group that also includes NC State.
Offensively, Amelia Swinarski leads the Cardinals with 25 points on eight goals and nine assists. Her point total ranks eighth in the ACC, while her eight goals stand 10th. Swinarski's nine assists have been a key factor for Louisville's attack, ranking third in the league. In goal, Erynn Floyd has been a steady presence for the Cardinals, logging 1,375 minutes this season. She has allowed just 11 goals, the fourth-fewest in the ACC, and owns a 0.72 goals-against average, the second-best mark in the conference.
The Unbeaten Streak Continues
NC State is riding a six-match ACC unbeaten streak that dates back to its 1-0 win at SMU on Sept. 18. The stretch is tied with the 2017 team for the longest conference unbeaten run in program history.
The Pack has gone unbeaten in six of its seven ACC contests, collecting 14 points in league play to sit tied for fourth in the conference standings. With three matches remaining, NC State remains firmly in contention for one of the six ACC Championship spots and will look to continue its momentum through the final stretch of the regular season.
Up Next
The Pack will play its final home game of the regular season on Sunday, Oct. 26 against Duke. The game is slated for 7 p.m. on ACC Network.
