The Basics of the Matchup
- NC State will host Clemson on Friday for the 76th all-time meeting between the two programs. The Wolfpack has won the last three and eight of the last ten. Clemson holds a seven game advantage in the series, leading 41-34.
- In the last meeting, NC State swept the Tigers on their home court and then junior Courtney Bryant picked up a double-double with 10 kills, 12 digs.
- Sunday's meeting with the Yellow Jackets marks the first since 2020 that Georgia Tech hasn't been ranked while facing the Pack. It marks the 69th all-time meeting between the two. Georgia Tech holds the advantage in the series with a 47-21 record.
- The last time the Pack defeated the Yellow Jackets was in 2017 - the oldest member of the Pack, Courtney Bryant was just 13.
- Be the third conference win of the season.
- Be the 10th win of the 2025 campaign.
- Be the 10th win of the MWK Era.
- Be the 827th win in program history.
- Be the 217th conference win of the season.
- Be the 35th win over the Tigers in program history.
- Redshirt-junior setter Elaisa Villar was tabbed 'la cucaracha' (Spanish word for cockroach) by associate head coach Jeremiah Gonidakis.
- Now its not in a bad way, like you would probably think upon first glance. The nickname is fitting for the Hialeah, Fla. native because she is a "pest on defense," as Jeremiah stated. She will do whatever it takes to help keep the ball in play - diving, pancaking, tomahawking, etc.
- LONG story short: He doesn't know much Spanish and one of our old assistants use to sing the song "la cucaracha" frequently. He started calling Villar 'la cucaracha' one day and the nickname has just stuck.
