Wolfpack Opens Conference Play with a Sweep over Virginia Tech

RALEIGH, N.C. – The NC State volleyball team opened up conference play Friday evening with a 3-0 sweep over the Virginia Tech Hokies at Reynolds Coliseum.
The Pack advances to 6-3 overall and 1-0 in ACC play.

Breaking Down the Match
- The first set was a battle between the two teams, but NC State maintained the lead throughout. The Pack led by as many as five (20-15) and finished the set on top, 25-21.
- Junior outside hitter Courtney Bryant led the team with four kills in the first set, in addition to two service aces.
- The Wolfpack came out of the break hot in set two and led 14-8, forcing a timeout from the Hokies.
- NC State tallied five service aces in the set, including two from both Skye Stokes and Naomi Cabello.
- The Pack went on a 10-1 scoring to finish out the second set and won, 25-11. Bryant and Amanda Rice combined for six kills while Jada Allen recorded three blocks for the Pack.
- NC State continued to dominate in set three, opening the frame with a 12-6 scoring run that forced Virginia Tech to call a timeout. The Pack would lead by as many as nine (20-11) in the third set, the biggest lead of the evening.
- A service error by the Hokies finished the set with the Wolfpack on top, 25-19. Bryant, Allen, and Ava Brizard each tallied four kills in the final frame.
- The Pack tallied 10 service aces in the win, the second most in a game this season.
- Both setters, Naomi Cabello and Kate Peterson, tallied a kill in the match – making this the first match this occurred this season.
- The win marks the fourth straight conference opener win under head coach Luka Slabe. The win is also the 199th in ACC play and 806th overall win in program history.
