NC State, Cardinals to Play in 2024 Jimmy V Women’s Classic

RALEIGH, N.C. - The NC State women's basketball team will be a part of the 2024 Jimmy V Women's Classic Presented by Corona. As one of three games chosen for the Jimmy V Men's and Women's Classic, NC State will play at Louisville on Sunday, Dec. 15 at 1 p.m. on ABC. The game will serve as the ACC opener for the Pack and Cardinals.
"We're super excited and honored to play in the Jimmy V Women's Classic," said head women's basketball coach Wes Moore. "Coach [Jim] Valvano will always be near and dear to NC State. He was an inspiration to all, and he continues to be through his impact with the V Foundation and their fight against cancer."
This marks NC State's fifth Jimmy V Classic appearance, also hosting UConn in 2002, Texas in 2003 and Tennessee in 2004, as well as playing at South Carolina in 2020. The game against Louisville marks the Pack's second away game for the Jimmy V Classic. In the all-time series, the Pack and Cardinals split at 8-8, while the Pack is on a five-game winning streak against Louisville.
The Jimmy V. Classic, named for legendary college basketball coach Jim Valvano, annually raises money and awareness for the V Foundation for Cancer Research. The women's event debuted in 2002, which the Pack was a part of, while the men's classic began in 1995. Both events are a part of ESPN's V Week initiative, which uses platforms to talk to sport fans about the importance of cancer research. To date, ESPN has assisted in raising nearly $236 million for the V Foundation since 1993. ESPN's annual V Week has helped raise nearly $89 million over the past 17 years.
Tickets for the Pack's Jimmy V Women's Classic game will be managed and sold by Louisville.
