Softball Takes First ACC Series Win of 2024 with Doubleheader Sweep of Pitt

RALEIGH, N.C. – NC State softball (29-23, 5-18) picked up its first ACC series win of the season on Friday evening as the Wolfpack swept a doubleheader against Pitt (17-31, 6-17), opening the night with a 9-2 win in game one and an 8-4 victory in game two.
The Pack celebrated its senior day festivities as well on Friday, with Aisha Weixlmann, Gracie Roberts and Kaylee Lambrecht each honored prior to the day's first game.
NC State's afternoon was highlighted by a strong offensive performance that included four home runs over two games. The Pack struck firsts in both contests, plating two runs in the first inning of the first game followed by one run in the opening frame of the second game.
Taylor Ensley, Michele Tarpey and Amanda Hasler each tallied a home run in the series opener, while a solo shot from Hasler in the first inning of game two broke the ice for NC State.
The Wolfpack never trailed in game one, surrendering a two-run home run in the fifth frame that saw Pitt trim the Pack's lead at the time to 5-2. NC State responded with a four-run showing in the sixth inning, with Lambrecht scoring on an error after a leadoff double followed by a two-run blast from Hasler and an RBI double from Hannah Goodwin that scored Roberts after her first hit of the season.
In game two, the Pack scores one run in the first, second and fourth innings while tacking on five more in the third frame. The Pack's five spot came after giving up a three-run home run in the top of the third, moving from down 3-2 to ahead 7-3, creating what would prove to be an insurmountable four-run advantage.
Rylee Wyman picked up the win in game one after six innings of work, while Madison Inscoe took the victory in the circle in game two for the Wolfpack.

NC State's season finale is set for Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m., with the Wolfpack looking to sweep the Panthers on the ACC Network. Tickets can be purchased for fans upon entry into Dail Stadium.
