Pack Earns Podium Finishes in Two Events at Liberty Twilight Qualifier

LYNCHBURG, Va. – The NC State track and field team had six athletes place in the top-10 in their respective events at the Twilight Qualifier hosted by Liberty University Wednesday evening.
Sophomore Katie Horne took home the gold in the javelin throw after recording a throw of 43.95m. The mark was her third throw of the season over 43 meters.
In the men's 3000m steeplechase, senior Joe Jaster recorded a time of 9:19.61 to finish first and record a new personal best in the event. He surpassed his previous personal best time by almost 10 seconds.
Three other members of the Pack finished in the top-five in their events: Jakerra Covington finished fourth in the women's javelin throw, Makala Wright finished fourth in the women's hammer throw, and Sydney Freeman placed fifth in the women's hammer throw.
Freshman Clara Willard earned a top-10 finish after coming in eighth in the women's discus throw with a distance of 37.09m.
