RALEIGH – NC State women's basketball announced the signing of Caitlin Weimar to the program on Monday. Weimar is transferring from Boston University, and she will be immediately eligible to play for the Wolfpack beginning with the 2024-25 campaign.
A 6-4 native of Cortlandt, Manor, N.Y., Weimar was named the 2024 Patriot League Player of the Year after averaging 18.7 points, 10.7 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 2.8 blocks and 55.3 percent shooting (221-of-400) in 2023-24. She has also been a First Team All-Patriot League honoree and Patriot League Defensive Player of the Year each of the last two seasons.
"Caitlin is an experienced interior presence who has excelled on both ends of the court at the Division I level," said head coach Wes Moore. "She's coming off a stellar season as the Player and Defensive Player of the Year for the Patriot League after averaging a double-double. Her strong inside threat will compliment our experienced backcourt well, and her ability to block shots will also provide great rim protection on the defensive end. We're excited to welcome Caitlin to the Pack as we look to build momentum off our Final Four run."
Weimar averaged double figures in scoring and more than 8.7 rebounds in all three of her seasons at BU. She has 45 career double-doubles, highlighted by her single-season high of 18 this past year, and has scored 10+ points in 73 games in her four-year career. In 105 games, she has cumulative career averages of 13.8 points, 9.4 rebounds and 54.2 percent shooting (571-of-1053).
After earning all-conference recognition each season with the Terriers, Weimar's decorated senior campaign was also highlighted by a career-high scoring performance of 33 points in a Nov. 6, 2023 win over UMass Lowell. Her career-best mark in rebounds is 18, set in a Jan. 8, 2022 conference game against American.
She spent the first year of her career at Marist, where she was MAAC Co-Rookie of the Year, MAAC All-Rookie Team and MAAC All-Championship Team as a true freshman. Weimar averaged 8.6 points and 7.6 rebounds per game in that 2020-21 season.
Prior to her collegiate career, Weimar surpassed the 1,000 threshold in career points and career rebounds at Hendrick Hudson High School. She helped lead her team to the Section 1 Class A title as Tournament MVP during her senior year and was also named to the 2020 NYSSWA Class A All-State First Team that season.
